Individual Therapy

What does individual therapy with Dr. Reyna Aday involve?

Individual therapy with Dr. Reyna Aday is a personalized, trauma-informed process that integrates neuroscience, somatic techniques, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and polyvagal-informed approaches. Sessions are tailored to each client's unique history, goals, and nervous system responses.

What conditions does Dr. Reyna Aday treat in individual therapy?

Dr. Aday specializes in complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, childhood adversity, relational trauma, and stress-related conditions. She also works with clients navigating identity shifts, burnout, and life transitions.

What is polyvagal-informed therapy?

Polyvagal-informed therapy uses Dr. Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory to help clients understand how their autonomic nervous system responds to perceived safety and threat. Dr. Aday uses this framework to help clients recognize their own activation patterns and develop practical tools for regulation, presence, and connection.

How is somatic therapy different from traditional talk therapy?

Somatic therapy attends to the body as well as the mind. Rather than focusing solely on thoughts and narratives, somatic approaches track physical sensations, tension patterns, and body-based responses to help process and release trauma stored in the nervous system.

EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR therapy and how does it work?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation (typically guided eye movements) to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer cause intense emotional distress. Dr. Reyna Aday is an EMDRIA-certified therapist trained in all 8 phases of EMDR.

What conditions can EMDR therapy treat?

EMDR therapy is highly effective for PTSD, complex trauma, childhood abuse, sexual assault recovery, anxiety, phobias, grief, and performance anxiety. Research supports its use for a wide range of trauma-related conditions. Dr. Aday integrates EMDR with somatic awareness and parts-work for comprehensive healing.

How many EMDR sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on the complexity of the trauma and individual factors. Some clients experience significant relief in as few as 6–12 sessions for single-incident trauma, while complex or developmental trauma may require longer-term work. Dr. Aday creates individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs.

Is EMDR therapy available via telehealth?

Yes. Dr. Reyna Aday offers EMDR therapy via secure telehealth platforms for clients in Florida, New Jersey, Texas, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania. Research supports the effectiveness of telehealth EMDR, and adaptations for online delivery maintain the integrity of the bilateral stimulation process.

What is the difference between EMDR and traditional talk therapy?

Traditional talk therapy primarily works through verbal processing of thoughts and feelings. EMDR works directly with the nervous system's information processing mechanisms, allowing traumatic memories to be reprocessed without requiring detailed verbal narration of the event. This makes it particularly effective for trauma that is difficult to articulate.

Sex Therapy

What is sex therapy and what does it involve?

Sex therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy that addresses sexual concerns, dysfunction, and intimacy challenges. With Dr. Reyna Aday, sessions are talk-based and trauma-informed: there is no physical contact. We use evidence-based approaches including cognitive-behavioral strategies, sensate-focus exercises, somatic awareness, and EMDR to address the psychological and relational roots of sexual concerns.

What issues does Dr. Reyna Aday treat in sex therapy?

Dr. Aday addresses a wide range of concerns including performance anxiety, low desire or arousal difficulties, sexual trauma and assault recovery, pain during sex, low self-esteem around intimacy, relationship and communication challenges, and the impact of complex trauma on sexual functioning.

Is sex therapy confidential?

Yes. All therapy with Dr. Reyna Aday is strictly confidential and governed by professional ethics codes and HIPAA regulations. The only exceptions are mandated reporting requirements that apply to all licensed therapists.

Do I need to come with a partner for sex therapy?

No. Many clients begin sex therapy individually. Dr. Aday works with individuals and couples. The decision to involve a partner depends on your specific concerns and goals, and is always your choice.

How does trauma affect sexual health?

Trauma — whether sexual, relational, or developmental — can profoundly affect the nervous system's sense of safety, which is foundational to sexual wellbeing. Trauma responses such as hypervigilance, dissociation, or shutdown can manifest as low desire, arousal difficulties, pain, or avoidance of intimacy. Dr. Aday's trauma-informed approach addresses these nervous system patterns directly.

Somatic Wellness

What is somatic wellness therapy?

Somatic wellness therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes trauma and stress are stored in the physical body, not just the mind. Dr. Reyna Aday uses somatic healing therapy, movement-based group work, and sound healing to help clients release muscular tension patterns, regulate the nervous system, and restore a sense of safety and ease in the body.

What is a somatic release group?

Somatic release groups are small-group healing sessions that use gentle yoga-inspired movement, breathwork, and relational attunement to help participants loosen held trauma patterns. The group format fosters connection and shared healing as participants move through sequences designed to unlock blocked energy and build community resilience.

What is sound healing and how does it support trauma recovery?

Sound healing uses vibrational modalities (such as crystal bowls, tuning forks, and gentle percussion) to entrain the nervous system toward relaxation and coherence. Carefully calibrated frequencies can help access deeper layers of release and integration without requiring verbal processing, making it particularly accessible for those who find talking about trauma difficult.

Is there a discount for mental health providers?

Yes. Local mental health and wellness providers receive a 15 percent discount on all Somatic Wellness services, so they can experience these healing practices personally before offering them to their own clients.

Executive Coaching

Where does Dr. Aday provide executive coaching?

Executive coaching is offered in person by appointment at Dr. Aday's Coral Gables, Florida office (338 Minorca Avenue, Suite 202), serving leaders across the Miami metro area. Virtual coaching is available nationwide — unlike clinical psychotherapy, executive coaching is not bound by state licensure, so Dr. Aday partners with executives, founders, and senior leaders across the United States.

What makes Dr. Reyna Aday's executive coaching different?

Dr. Aday's executive coaching is uniquely grounded in trauma-informed care, neuroscience, and somatic awareness. Rather than focusing solely on performance metrics, she helps leaders understand how their nervous system, personal history, and unconscious patterns shape their leadership style, and how to shift those patterns for sustainable, authentic success.

Who is executive coaching with Dr. Aday designed for?

This coaching is ideal for founders, executives, and senior leaders ready to evolve with integrity; therapists, physicians, and helping professionals in leadership roles; visionaries navigating burnout, transition, or identity shifts; and women in leadership who are done shrinking to fit into outdated molds.

What is trauma-informed leadership?

Trauma-informed leadership recognizes that unresolved personal history often plays out in leadership roles through patterns like imposter syndrome, hyper-independence, perfectionism, or difficulty delegating. Dr. Aday helps leaders identify and shift these unconscious patterns so they can lead with greater self-awareness, compassion, and strategic clarity.

How does nervous system regulation improve leadership performance?

When leaders operate from a dysregulated nervous system — characterized by chronic stress, reactivity, or shutdown — decision-making, communication, and creativity suffer. Dr. Aday teaches practical nervous system regulation tools drawn from polyvagal theory and somatic practices, enabling leaders to access their full cognitive and emotional capacity even under pressure.

How long does executive coaching typically last?

Coaching engagements are tailored to individual goals and circumstances. Many clients work with Dr. Aday for three to six months for focused goal achievement, while others engage in longer-term partnerships for ongoing leadership development and accountability. An initial appointment helps determine the right structure for your needs.
